Wa Gono was founded by Thendo Ratshitanga, an entrepreneur with experience in business management, public policy, marketing and communications. Between 1997 and 2003, Thendo held several positions in the legislature and provincial government of Gauteng (South Africa), including as Programme Director of the Legislature, Provincial Manager of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), Advisor to the Speaker, Speechwriter for the Premier, and Director of Policy Development.
